Stories
Every Life Has a Story. Every Story has a purpose:
Over the years, we have had the privilege of walking alongside young people through their struggles, hopes, and dreams. Along the way, we have seen how God’s love, a caring relationship, and an opportunity can make a difference in someone’s life. Here are some of their stories, told in their own words.

ALUMNI STORY
Dr. Amos Odiwuor
A LIFE OF COMPASSION, EXCELLENCE AND SERVICE
From a determined student at Orero High School to a medical doctor serving in Kirinyaga County, Amos’s journey is a powerful example of what can happen when educational opportunity, mentorship and discipline come together.
Today, Dr. Amos Odiwuor is using his skills and training to bring hope and healing to individuals, families and communities — embodying the kind of servant leadership OneLife Africa seeks to nurture.
A JOURNEY OF OPPORTUNITY
Amos was supported by OneLife Africa from his time at Oremo High School through to university, where he earned a Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBChB) from Uzima University, graduating in 2024.
The support he received helped open the door to an education, but the journey was about much more than school fees. Through mentorship, discipleship and a caring community, Amos was encouraged, challenged and equipped to pursue his calling.

“Discipleship at OneLife Africa played a foundational role in shaping who I am today. It shaped how I relate to people from different backgrounds, teaching me unity and forgiveness over division.”
— DR. AMOS ODIWUOR

SERVING OTHERS TODAY
Dr. Amos is currently a Medical Officer at Kerugoya County Referral Hospital in Kirinyaga County. He completed a comprehensive one-year rotational internship in Medicine, Surgery, Pediatrics, and Obstetrics & Gynecology, and now continues to serve in his current role.
His work includes diagnosing and treating acute and chronic conditions, performing surgical procedures such as caesarean deliveries and exploratory laparotomies, and managing emergency and disaster preparedness. He has led a clinical audit on neonatal mortality and conducted research on upper gastrointestinal bleeding demographics. He also holds certifications in Basic and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (BLS/ACLS) and ICU Good Clinical Practice.
Alongside his clinical work, Amos regularly teaches and mentors medical students and junior nursing staff — an extension of the same spirit of investing in others that first experienced through OneLife Africa.
